How The DCU Can Honor The Legacy of Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman is one of the most important characters to DC and with the recent success of superman it is clear that the DCU is fully in motion now and with that comes a long awaited reboot of the daughter of Themyscria which i think has been long overdue. I want to be honest with everyone i was not to familiar with wonder woman before making this i some things from justice league the animated show and justice league unlimited but i had never really dove deep into her comics so i finally decided to read The Rebirth run with Greg Rucka and wow i was blown away by that run i loved the year one story and that is what kinda sparked me to make this blog. I am currently deep into volume 1 of the George Perez run and it is just showing me that wonder woman is truly one of the best characters dc has. Her Mythos her support characters the gods everything about it is just peak to me and it is a shame that DC in the comics has been severely butchering her with bad writers and going away from what makes her so good. So in Light of that i wanna talk about how the DCU can do a proper take on Diana incorporating things from Histroia Rebirth and Perez run but can also change some things but still keep it true to the character at heart. So first things first my big thing i want in the DCU Wonder Woman movie is a clay origin. I thought this was the coolest thing ever when i read the Perez run i love the origin of all the gods lending Diana her powers but also giving her the keys to who she is like her love and wisdom. I think this could also add a lot of depths to the gods as Diana is their sole hope to stopping Ares. If i am being honest though i do not want Ares to be the main villain of this movie he has been done before and i want to introduce who i think is Wonder Woman best villain Veronica Cale. I think of her Wonder Woman's Lex Luthor she is a pharmaceuticals billionaire but her reason for going after wonder woman is because her daughter soul was stolen by Phobos and Deimos because she couldn't deliver on the promise she made to them to find Themyscira eventually she gets what they are capturing her daughter in but she is gone which leads to Ares. I do not think we go that far yet but i definitely think this first film can be establishing her as a recurring villain like Lex Luthor in Superman 2025. I also want all her side characters like steve and Lieutenant Candy i think part of this first film can be her fighting cheetah but then her she can also break cheetah curse by the end of the movie and we can get Barbara Ann by the end but maybe we can see that cale is behind it somehow can tie to doctor cyber. I also want this to be like a year 2 story she is very early into being Wonder Woman. I want there diana to still long to for her sisters on Themsycira but also realize that she was sent by the gods and that they will guide her when she needs it. Speaking of the gods i really want them to look more like the Perez run mixed with Wonder Woman Historia like the classic look but also some new elements like how the superman suit has the kingdom come logo but the lines are very much like the Jim Lee new 52 run. I think for Diana i truly love the classic Silver age look so i want bits of that but also like the curly hair look of the Perez run with the star skirt and the big wonder woman logo. I think they should keep it classic but make it slightly modern no sword just a lasso. They should lean into this wonder woman being a real fighter like she should be highly skilled in hand to hand combat. I also hope they have a scene where philippus shoots Diana with a gun and she blocks it with her shields on her wrist. The one thing i think is very important to this is Diana innocence in these early years even though it would be year 2 i still want her adjusting to life on earth and trying new things i want there to be a naive trait to her. i also want Diana to be physically imposing by her Height and stature she should be tall and muscular my ideal height for her is just as tall or taller than superman. I understand James Gunn saying that this would be hard to find an actress who could fit all the height and muscular build needed i need him to try his hardest though cause it is his job. I think another big thing i want is for Themsycira to look grand the Greek architecture with like some waterfalls and things like that. Also, i do not think this film should be a period piece i want it to be set in the modern day this is why i mention the Greg Rucka wonder woman run cause it is a blueprint to how to do a modern day wonder woman movie. I think something like god watch cause work really well in this i want the Rucka run to be the main basis for the story but the look of the movie should feel like the Perez run. I could truly go on and on about Wonder Woman she has become one of my favorite dc characters ever and i really hope the DCU can nail Diana in the best way possible and still stay true to who the character is.
