So i have been pondering about writing this for weeks. Recently i finished the V for Vendetta comic written by Alan Moore which i thought was amazing but there was also something i noticed about it that i see now. I feel like the book was about how complacent people in that world had gotten with a fascists regime. V story is a revenge story but underneath that is almost a story begging people to have a wake up call and to look through the censored propaganda given to them by the government. V in this case represents a more extreme case of this blowing up parts and killing everyone who wronged him, but there is something to be said about people who choose to stay complacent because the system benefits them. That is the ultimate problem when someone benefits off suffering they will turn a blind eye. For example most people in the us have an iPhone and they don't know that someone in the Congo died to get that phone that you use and yet in the end apple can hold a big event launching the iPhone 17 make millions of dollars off of it and can continue to benefit from peoples suffering cause the consumers are complacent. They do not care what is going on or how the phone was made they just want the newest and most up to date phone. I think the Speech V gives on the air ways is trying to tell people that in a sense. Basically your Complacency has made you blind you cannot even tell how much the world around has changed. We see it in the real world all the time people who say that they do not do politics. People who agree that the president is bad but do not care because it benefits them. We see it Wolfenstein when you have to go to the mission of the Nazis taking over the united states we see regression we see slavery is back and the kkk are able to walk around freely and have taken over the south. We see white Americans who are okay with this because they benefit from the Nazi Regime. You can over hear some saying that have slaves and are selling them but the thing about Wolfenstein is it says that this did not start with the Nazis they only enhanced it. We see with BJs dad that the anti gay, anti black, anti jew sentiment was already there for men in this country all they needed was somebody like the Nazis to enhanced what they already believe. Then when you add in people who already benefit from a system that works for them they will turn a blind eye to violence and death that the system has caused. BEING COMPLACENT IS THE SAME AS BEING THE PROBLEM. When you willingly turn a blind eye in a Nazi world because it benefits you that is the same as being a Nazi. These two medias teach us the Complacency is death my advice to all you do not being complacent see through the cracks maneuver through the deception never find yourself complacent with what is going on use your voice your platform.
