Absolute Superman has always been one of the more up and down comics of the absolute universe it started really well with issues 1-6 bringing a new life and lore into the historic character. There were so many great ideas like the Krypton hierarchy system and Kal being older before he was sent to earth and actually having a relationship with his parents before leaving. The first issues really laid some groundwork for what many thought would be at the least a fresh interesting take on the character. Writer Jason Aaron Said that the villain of the series would be different and it made fans speculate on what superman villain they would do to their surprise it turned out to be Ra's al Ghul the legendary batman villain. This threw many readers off and made many stop reading. I personally do not think Ra's was that bad of a villain i just think it was a bad choice and i found the whole storyline uninteresting. Most people felt like Superman has way more important villains who they would have like to see a new interesting take on. It also does not help that this arc took up half the run and if it was three issues or something i could see that but half of the run was a bit much. They did introduce one of the most insane character designs ever for Brainiac ever which was one the highs throughout this arc. To this point the comic was not bad more than it was just not interesting outside of Brainiac i found the run pretty meh. Once the Ra's arc ended readers speculated what was going to happen next as this was the time to start fresh with something different. It was announced that artist Juan Ferreyra was taking over the art for the next couple issues and the preview pages before release it looked promising a new suit and story with Clark focusing on Metropolis it was a great jumping on point for new readers or readers who ended dropping the run. Once released Absolute Superman 15 was a complete homerun for the run it got many people back on board and Juan Ferreyra amazing art was a complete win the following issues have also been just as good introducing characters like hawkman, black adam, and parasite. Absolute superman seems to be on the right track and is doing a great job at bringing in new fans and getting old readers back on board.
